Transportation Manager



SUMMARY: Operates semi and/or box truck for Mid-Ohio Food Bank (MOF), and drives truck to perform food pickups and MOF agency order delivery services. Loads and unloads trucks for deliveries to and from pickups. Completes documents associated with each pickup and delivery including US Department of Transportation (USDOT) inspections and records.


  • Drives all trucks in a safe manner to perform food donation pickups from retail stores, warehouse & distribution centers, manufacturers, special events or food drives.
  • Delivers food from MOF to agencies (i.e. agency orders, fresh produce, as well as government and special programs)
  • Performs set up and tear down of Mobile Markets at distribution sites as requested and accurately tracks inventory
  • Completes documents associated with each pickup and delivery including US Department of Transportation (USDOT) inspections and records
  • Operates forklift, pallet jack, and/or electric jacks to load and unload truck at MOF, agency facility or pickup site in a safe manner
  • Inspects, cleans, and maintains assigned vehicle - completing required USDOT vehicle inspection forms. Transports vehicle to/from repair shops
  • Complies with all USDOT operational regulations (standard weight limits, hours of service, maintaining current licensing).
  • Participates in special event projects as requested by Transportation Manager.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Education and Certifications: High School Diploma/GED required. Class A CDL, Valid US Department of Transportation medical card, and forklift operator's license. Employees must obtain the required Federal and/or state licenses/registrations within the time period designated by the MOF. Additional licenses/registrations may be required when new products and services are implemented. If an employee fails or is unable to obtain required licenses/registrations within the time period designated by the MOF, the employee will be ineligible to continue in the position.

Experience: At least one year of experience driving a semi-truck, including hands-on freight pickup and delivery. Experience with food products and refrigerated freight preferred. Experience operating forklifts (propane and/or electric), electric pallet jacks/riders (4ft and 8ft) is required. Working knowledge of truck and general warehouse machinery operations. Ability to maneuver truck in non-industrial areas.

Skills/Competencies: Ability to represent MOF in communications with member agencies and donors.


Working Conditions: Must work in warehouse environment and operate Class A and B Commercial Vehicles. Safety sensitive position due to regular interaction with heavy machinery. Must be able to: perform moderate to heavy physical labor (lift 30 lbs. frequently and 75 lbs. occasionally). Daily walking, bending, reaching, pushing and pulling (300 lbs. with use of manual pallet jack.). Frequent standing, walking, lifting, carrying, and reaching. Must work in sub-freezing temperatures for extended periods of time. Some night and weekend work required.
