JOB SUMMARY:
Under the general supervision of the Pantry Manager, this position will be responsible for assisting in the day- to-day operations of the Food Pantry at the Mid-Ohio Food Collective.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
- Preps and stages produce pallets for pantry floor and pantry express.
- Organizes and manages product movement of food pantry inventory.
- Maintains produce cooler. Assures all produce is pulled and organized before bringing to pantry floor.
- Uses forklift to retrieve pallets from freezer storage area.
- Assist and directs volunteers as needed.
- Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following safety practices and policies.
- Participates in special projects as requested.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Education and Certifications: High School Diploma/GED required. Food Safety Certification (provided by Mid-Ohio Food Collective).
Experience: Experience operating a forklift and/or electric pallet jack is desired. Potential candidates should have experience training and retaining volunteers to achieve set goals. Computer skills are necessary for maintaining pantry records and completing monthly/annual reports. Knowledge of food pantry operations and community garden projects/initiatives. Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, and Outlook is required.
Skills/Competencies: Strong organization, communication and people skills are required. Must have excellent customer service and communication skills. Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Ability to work effectively and efficiently both independently and in a team environment. Candidates must represent Mid-Ohio Food Collective with professionalism when interacting with clients, volunteers, community members and staff.
JOB CONDITIONS:
Working Conditions: Normal office and pantry environment. Job requires indoor and outdoor activity for extended periods of time. Must be able to perform moderate to heavy physical labor (lift 30 lbs. frequently and 50 lbs. occasionally). Daily walking, bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling (300 lbs. with use of manual pallet jack). Frequent standing, walking, lifting, carrying, and reaching. Must be able to work in varying climate temperatures.
Schedule: 1st shift (7-3:30pm Tuesday -Saturday) and 2nd Shift (12pm-8:30pm Monday -Friday). Hours may vary.
