Mid-Ohio Foodbank (MOF) works each day to end hunger one nourishing meal at a time and to co-create a sustainable community where everyone thrives. Understanding that hunger is a community challenge that requires a community solution, we are steadfast in our pledge to make sure that no one goes hungry and that hungry families can count on another meal.

For more than 35 years, Mid-Ohio Foodbank has served the needs of people across central and eastern Ohio. In 1980, our first year, we distributed just 205,200 pounds of food. Today, the organization handles more than 68 million pounds annually. Through partnerships with more than 650 member agencies, we provide more than 140,000 meals every day.

We are committed to creating food access points on all levels. We do this through innovative ways that serve the whole person, understanding that hunger does not exist in isolation. Our goal is to end hunger.

Examples of innovative MOF programming include:

• Food Is Health focusing on strategies and outcomes that help our neighbors gain the skills, knowledge, and confidence needed to access and prepare healthier foods.
• Urban Farms of Central Ohio which transforms vacant and underutilized sites in under-served neighborhoods into productive, sustainable, urban farms providing low-income, food-insecure residents increased access to fresh, local produce, and encourages civic engagement.
• South Side Roots Caf, Market & Kitchen that offers affordable grocery items at a lower cost than major grocery chains, low-cost meals with a varied payment structure (including volunteering), and meals for local after-school programs.
• The Kroger Community Pantry, a choice-style pantry serving hungry neighbors from Franklin and surrounding counties. It is also a learning-lab, providing first-hand knowledge into the challenges faced by our agency partners and clients.

About the Position

Our bold vision of a hunger free and healthier community requires an innovative leader and team. We are looking for a leader to build, foster, and guide our team in creative and collaborative ways to mobilize and inspire others toward fighting poverty and ending hunger.

Reporting to the President/Chief Executive Officer, the Chief Platform Officer position is a member of the organization's executive team and will also be a face of MOF to the community.

The new Platform Officer will:

• be passionate about the MOF mission and committed to the strategic vision of the organization;
• be creative, innovative, and collaborative in expanding and developing platforms, programs and services for MOF;
• be an ambitious and dynamic leader, partnering with the President/CEO to build and nurture relationships and align like-minded organizational partners;
• have a successful history of utilizing technology to drive outcomes; and
• demonstrate effective strategic skills to lead and execute large-scale initiatives.

Key Job Functions

• Lead customer-focused efforts to identify and implement Platforms and related services that create impact in the community.
• Partner with internal and external individuals to assess business opportunities and develop executable strategies to address operational needs and to drive the development of new programs and activities aligned with Platforms.
• Plan, research, and assess new technology concepts, both internal and external, through partnership with organizational leaders to bridge data, science, analytics and predictive modeling to impact business challenges that deliver measurable results and outcomes.
• Provide strategic vision in the areas of platform development, partnership development, information technology infrastructure, data and marketplace solutions including but not limited to desktop, MS Office plug-ins, mobile, feeds and APIs.
• Drive thought leadership across the organization as it relates to our customers and partners, identifying opportunities to better meet their needs through analytics, customer insight and technology.
• Collaborate with design and production teams on product deliverables, including but not limited to infrastructure, information security & policy management, operations support and technology solutions.
• Leads strategic planning and execution of Platforms, technology and related initiatives.
• Directs employee management including performance management, salary planning and administration, training and development, workflow and organizational planning, hiring and placement, and disciplinary actions.
• Develops and maintains strategic relationships with external value-adding partners and vendors.

Position Competencies, Skills, and Qualifications

Education and Certifications: Master’s Degree in business field, IT, Innovation required.

Experience: At least 5 years of executive leadership experience. Demonstrated experience in leveraging technology to drive outcomes. Previous experience working with platforms and open sources tools. Demonstrated ability to drive execution of large-scale initiatives. Previous experience in managing customized software applications (i.e. donor management systems, inventory systems, etc.). Must have a robust understanding of and experience in technology sciences. 

Skills/Competencies:     

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to facilitate group presentations.
• Critical thinker able to be a strategic thought partner to senior-level and leadership teams.
• Must be able to represent Mid-Ohio Foodbank with professionalism when interacting with partners, staff and MOF guests.
• Basic knowledge of food insecurity, with the ability to become a subject matter expert on food banking and poverty issues.
• Innovation and problem-solving skills that include the ability to propose and develop technology and community-based solutions.
