SUMMARY:

The Communications Manager is responsible for developing and producing copy and written materials for external and internal communications. The Communications Manager will exhibit strong writing skills in achieving the highest possible standards for all materials requiring writing in assigned projects and tasks.

PRIMARY DUTIES:

  • Concept and execute compelling and innovative narratives and external messaging across Mid-Ohio Food Collective's web properties, digital & social media, video, mobile, and audio, print, packaging, and other platforms that connect Mid-Ohio Food Collective to customers, volunteers, donors, and general public.
  • Build and implement internal communications strategies to support cross departmental culture through strength-based storytelling.
  • Execute content creation and strategy aligned with our marketing calendar and editorial roadmap, including significant portions of the Mid-Ohio Food Collective Annual Report.
  • Develop and implement strategies to elevate customer voices through interviews and written storytelling. Partner with Public Relations Manager to maintain library of customer stories for media purposes.
  • Compose scripts and talking points for promotional campaigns, videos, and public appearances in support of President/CEO, Senior VP of Communications, and other MOFC representatives.
  • Craft news releases, letters to the editor, and other written storytelling in collaboration with communications team and other departments.
  • Partner with creative team to further develop and refine each brand's voice within our house of brands, and craft content for promotional/marketing materials.
  • Provide writing support for communication materials and edit content from other departments as demand and schedules require.
  • Collaborate with team members on thought leadership presentations, blog posts, podcasts, and whitepapers.
  • Recommend, research, and develop facts, quotes, and scenarios to support communications strategy and execution.
  • Establish and track metrics to effectively measure impact and responses, identifying, then implementing best practices.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Education: Undergraduate degree in a relevant field.

Experience: 3+ years' experience working within corporate, agency, non-profit, or public sector communications roles. Expert understanding of writing mechanics and grammar. Proficiency in Microsoft Office. Knowledge/use of Adobe CC a plus. Experience with organizational intranet platforms a plus.

Skills/Competencies: Ability to write for diverse audiences and reading levels across all mediums. Consistently generate fresh ideas solving for the communication objectives of each project.

Own the review, editing, proofreading, and overall content development during all phases of your projects. Collaborate with diverse teams on projects. Ability to write search engine optimized website content. Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. Strong presentation and communications skills. Can "boil down" verbose content to the "essence" of the main message in a concise, effective manner.

Team player with excellent relationship-building skills.
