Director Corporate Relations

SUMMARY:  Develops and executes specific strategies, goals, and timetables for the successful cultivation and solicitation of funds from the corporate community in central and eastern Ohio, and throughout the U.S.   Partners with other agency departments to grow corporate involvement and support.  Provides strategy and budget recommendations to the Vice President, Development.

PRIMARY DUTIES:

  1. Identify, research, and solicit corporate donors and donor prospects.
  2. Manage corporate relationships through stewardship and communication, including formal written reports.
  3. Develop and write proposals for corporate and government funding opportunities.
  4. Cultivate relationships with donor prospects through facility tours, phone calls, mailings, emails, and visits.
  5. Develop and manage a deep understanding of corporate philanthropy and marketing partnerships as well as corporate leadership and giving officer responsibilities and changes.
  6. Provide knowledge and strategic assistance to corporate initiatives by the Board of Directors, Operation Feed campaign, workplace giving, and special events.
  7. Identify, research, and communicate corporate giving trends and policy developments that may impact MOF.
  8. Represent MOF at corporate and workplace giving activities.
  9. Assist with general agency services activities
  10. Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:  Bachelors degree required in related field

Licenses/Designations: Valid OH Drivers license or ability to obtain one within three months of employment

Minimum Experience:  At least five years of relevant and recent fundraising experience in a nonprofit organization.  Proposal writing experience.  Demonstrated experience building and maintaining effective working relationships with stakeholders and partners.

Knowledge:  Knowledge of corporations and their giving officers in the MOF service area.  Knowledge of corporate philanthropy and marketing partnership practices.  Knowledge of donor cultivation and solicitation principles and processes.   

Skills/Competencies:    Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.  Ability to develop strategic relationships with donor organizations.  Ability to research prospects and their giving guidelines.  Strong oral and written communication skills and persuasion.  Ability to represent MOF with professionalism when interacting with donors, partners and prospects.

JOB CONDITIONS:

Working Conditions:  Normal office environment; will include some evening and weekend work.  Travel locally as necessary, approximately 30%.
