JOB TITLE: Director, Human Resources
STATUS: Full Time, Exempt
REPORTS TO: Chief Officer, Strategic & Organizational Development
DIRECT REPORTS: HR Coordinator, Safety Manager, and Front Desk Coordinator

SUMMARY

Provides strategic and operational HR leadership for Mid-Ohio Foodbank (MOF).  Develops and implements HR strategies, policies, programs and services, including talent management, compliance, compensation, benefit structure and administration, succession planning, training and development, Workers Compensation administration, safety program leadership,  employee relations and coaching, and employment practices and procedures. Partners with MOF Leadership Team, Managers, Supervisors and Team Members to drive performance, engagement, and strategic priorities.

PRIMARY DUTIES:

  • Plans, develops, organizes, implements, directs and evaluates the MOF's HR and Safety Team.
  • Partners with Leadership Team and Managers to provide strategic HR support and address business needs.
  • Provides HR expertise and counsel on staffing strategies and acquisition of key talent. Proactively identifies and monitors top talent to support growth initiatives for the organization and ensures that appropriate succession plans are in place for key roles.
  • Develops comprehensive and competitive compensation and benefits programs that attract, motivate, and retain individuals with competencies essential to support our organizational values and achieve our strategic goals. Annually reviews and recommends updates based on market trends and organizational performance.
  • Identifies key engagement drivers and partners with the Leadership Team to develop strategies to align people, processes, and work related systems in order to achieve meaningful levels of job satisfaction and retention for employees.
  • Develops, implements, and oversees employee wellness and safety programs.
  • Identifies competency, knowledge and talent gaps and develops specific programs for the filling of those gaps.
  • Develops policies and programs for effective management of the people resources within MOF, including but not limited to; employee relations, affirmative action, harassment, employee complaints, and career development.
  • Consults and makes recommendations for MOF managers on performance management, employee relations, compensation, and diversity initiatives.
  • Maintains knowledge of HR policies, programs, laws and issues and coordinate the integration of programs as applicable.
  • Manages Workers Compensation and unemployment claims and processes.
  • Manages the operational budget and other financial measures of the Human Resources Department.
  • Serves as a member of the MOF Leadership Team and the HR and Executive Compensation Committee for the MOF Board of Directors.
  • Participates in special projects and initiatives as requested.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Business, HR Management, or related field required. Master's Degree preferred.

Licenses/Designations:SPHR or PHR required

Experience: At least 10 years of diverse HR Generalist experience with in-depth experience in one or more HR technical areas.  Experience in logistics, safety management, and Workers Compensation strongly preferred.

Knowledge: Proven knowledge of strategic planning, organizational development, process management, and human resources functions.  Knowledge of strategic relationship building and conflict resolution are required.

Skills/Competencies: Must have the ability to lead project teams as well as develop plans, objectives and resource requirements within budgetary limitations. Strong leadership, interpersonal skills and excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
