Position: Facilities and Maintenance Specialist

Status: Full-Time, Non-Exempt

Reports To: Manager, Safety and Facilities

Direct Reports: None

 

 

SUMMARY:
Coordinates the maintenance and upkeep of Mid-Ohio Foodbank (MOF) facilities. Manages external contractors that come on-site to perform contracted facilities and building maintenance. Performs required meeting and event set-up activities for Mid-Ohio Foodbank's internal and external customers to ensure a safe, secure, and prepared environment for staff and visitors.


PRIMARY DUTIES:
• Performs a variety of work in the general maintenance, inspection and repair of building and grounds
• Inspects and maintains assigned custodial equipment and small tools for proper operating condition
• Completes maintenance forms, reports, and logs as required
• Schedules and coordinates vendor tasks associated with facility operations
• Orders and replenishes custodial supplies and equipment
• Performs minor semi-skilled interior and exterior building maintenance and repairs such as painting, floor covering, plumbing, carpentry, mechanical, and other work
• Assists in various construction and renovation projects as assigned
• Responsible for facility and community rooms during daytime, evening, and weekend events and meetings including set-up/tear-down, assistance with meeting equipment and technology needs, safety and facility security including closing and lock up of the building
• Maintains general safety and cleanliness of building and grounds including recycling and trash removal program, snow and ice removal and general outside maintenance of facility and light bulb replacement.
• Responds to emergencies outside of normal working hours
• Remains familiar with and complies with all operational policies, safety and environmental laws and regulations
• Performs other duties as assigned


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: High School Diploma/GED required


Licenses/Designations: Valid Driver's License


Experience: Three or more years of combined experience and training which demonstrates the knowledge and experience to perform the primary duties


Knowledge: Working knowledge of equipment, materials, and supplies used in building and grounds maintenance. Working knowledge of equipment and supplies used to do minor building repairs. Basic knowledge of first aid and applicable safety procedures. Basic knowledge of LEED construction and maintenance practices. Basic computer skills and ability to use programs including Microsoft Word and Outlook. Knowledge of energy control systems is preferred. Knowledge of refrigeration systems, RTU's, and ammonia freezer preferred.


Skills/Competencies: Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines. Ability to work effectively and efficiently both independently and in a team environment. Excellent customer focus and customer service skills. Ability to learn, adapt quickly to organizational change, and respond quickly to real time needs.

 

JOB CONDITIONS:
Working Conditions: While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places, and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid environments. Frequent exposure to outdoor weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, humidity). Evening and some weekend work is required. Frequently required to sit, talk, hear, reach with hands and arms, use hands and fingers to handle and operate objects, tools, and controls. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. Ability to work flexible hours (outside of regular hours of operation 5:00 am – 6:00 pm M-F) when events, meetings or special project support is required. Must have reliable transportation.
