SUMMARY: The graphic designer is responsible for creating visually appealing materials that communicate information to support awareness of Mid-Ohio Food Collective and its mission using a variety of mediums. We are rooted in the belief that food is a human right, and that the way we communicate to our communities takes a team of driven, compassionate, and creative individuals who are ready to roll up their sleeves and tackle ending hunger together.

The graphic designer will report to the Sr. Manager of Creative Services and work closely with the in-house brand team. They will use their creativity, mastery of technology, and infinite capacity for imagination to develop solutions for both print and digital to support the brand.

PRIMARY DUTIES:

  • Design and create printed and digital communication assets and collateral for the organization.
  • Coordinate with the creative team on printing specifications and production requirements of materials.
  • Utilize creativity skills to produce new ideas and concepts, interactive media, and illustrations.
  • Participate in special projects as requested.
  • Collaborate, brainstorm, and strategize with multiple teams via virtual/in-person meetings, to include white-boarding for a wide range of materials that may involve web pages, presentations, programming collateral, signage, internal communication, newsletters, and marketing materials.
  • Translate strategic direction into high-quality design within an established brand identity.
  • Develop concepts by hand or with software, and execute original content determining ideal usage of color, text, font style, imagery, and layout.
  • Use trend intelligence and obtain an understanding of the current and historical organization and industry to design materials.
  • Work on a wide range of projects and media, utilizing various computer software to visualize and develop innovative creative material that meets organization goals.
  • Obtain input from management, ensuring designs meet organizational standards and brand expectations, express ideas accurately, and represent the organization or customer appropriately.
  • Examine existing processes and create solutions to improve design capabilities.
  • Update and maintain internal databases of designs, photography, and video.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with appropriate client stakeholders, providing day-to-day contact on project status updates and changes
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with outside resources-including third-party vendors and contractors

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Education and Certifications: Bachelor's Degree in graphic design or a related field is required.

Experience: At least 3 years of design experience is required. Additional experience working on multiple creative projects is preferred. Non-profit experience is also preferred.

Skills/Competencies: Must have the ability to work independently and in a team environment. Creative thinker. Excellent presentation skills, ability to manage multiple tasks, willingness to adjust to changing priorities, and excellent interpersonal skills are required. Proficient in Microsoft Office. Strong knowledge of Adobe Creative suite. Proficient in illustration, typography, and color theory. Computer fluency in Mac and PC. Strong communication skills. Ability to manage multiple projects. Strong time management and resource management skill with

Additional preferred skills: Understanding of UI/UX software and process. Motion graphics and animation knowledge. Project management. Knowledge/use of Asana and Slack.

JOB CONDITIONS:

Working Conditions: Normal office environment with potential for hybrid work schedule. Must have received or be willing to receive the COVID-19 vaccine by date of hire to be considered for employment.
