Human Resources Intern

JOB SUMMARY:

Mid-Ohio Food Collective (MOFC) is looking for a Human Resources (HR) Intern to assist the HR team in various tasks including recruitment, record management, training, and policy review. HR serves as a critical internal support to the mission and operations of our organization, and this internship position is geared towards providing hands on HR experience as well as skill development and growth.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Posts, updates, and removes job ads from job boards and career pages.

  • Schedules interviews and confirms applicant availability.

  • Writes employee communications and correspondence about updates in HR policies and procedures.

  • Assists in reviewing compliance with labor codes and applicable local and state employment laws (e.g., Equal Employment Opportunity and Fair Labor Standards Act laws)

  • Participates and assists in organizational events and trainings.

  • Prepares HR-related reports as needed.

  • Addresses employee inquiries accurately or assists in escalating inquiries.

  • Reviews and updates organizational policies and procedures

  • Participates in organizing organization-wide events.

  • Attends career fairs.

  • Assists with HR projects.

  • Assists with document retention and record management.

  • Assists in updating employee records and reviews records for accuracy and completeness.

  • Drafts and sends out offer letters.

  • Files documents and answers customer and employee inquiries.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Certifications: High School diploma or GED required. Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management or studying toward a degree in HR Management or a related field.

Experience: The ideal candidate will have experience working in an office environment and working with a team to accomplish a common goal. Experience applying HR knowledge in a practical manner is preferred.

Skills/Competencies: Working knowledge of U.S. labor laws; familiarity working with a HRIS (Human Resources Information System) software is preferred; proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications; the ability to work as part of a team; excellent administrative and organizational skills; effective communication skills; detail-oriented; strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
