JOB TITLE: Kitchen Utility Prep

STATUS: Full Time, Non-Exempt

REPORTS TO: Head Chef

DIRECT REPORTS: None

HOURS: Sunday-Friday; Hours vary

SUMMARY:  Operates the dish washing, keeps the kitchen and other areas of food production in a clean and orderly condition. Assists i n light prep work, packing meals, loading and unloading meals. Assists in any other area of the kitchen operations as directed.

PRIMARY DUTIES

• Responsible for the operation and cleanliness of the dish washing machine.
• Responsible for washing of all china, glassware, silverware, pots, pans and other items used in the kitchen.
• Responsible for breakdown of all boxes, emptying trash containers into the dumpster and cleaning all containers.
• Cleans walls in kitchen as appropriate, especially in dish room areas. Cleans floor mats, sweeps and mops entire kitchen floor daily. Assists in cleaning of  ovens and refrigerators.
• Ensures that the dish machine is reading at the appropriate temperature so that all items will be properly sanitized.
• Ensures that the floor is kept dry and free of debris at all times.
• Assists with unloading shipments, dating items and putting items away.
• Able to move items weighing up to 50 pounds and is able to stock items on shelves above eye level.
• Loads and unloads meal deliveries.
• Works with volunteers to help with kitchen sanitation and direct in work area.
• Has a thorough knowledge of emergency and life safety procedures, and follows all key control procedures.
• Wears proper uniform in accordance with the standards of personal appearance guidelines in the hand book.
• Performs all other duties deemed necessary by management.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Education and Certifications:  High School Diploma/GED Required. Preferred Food Safety Certification or willingness to follow food safety guidelines and regulations required by the USDA and the state of Ohio.

Experience:  Preferred 6-months sanitation knowledge and experience in food operations.

Skills/Competencies:   Must have excellent customer skills, basic mathematical skills, good communication, and time management skills. Able to manage stressful and difficult situations and people in a professional manner. Good verbal communication skills with the ability to speak, write and comprehend  English. Ability to work independently and work as a team member. Ability to follow directions verbally or written. Must have the ability to multi-task while paying attention to detail. Reliability is revealed through work ethic and work performance in a fast-paced and high volume environment.

JOB CONDITIONS:
Working Conditions: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet or humid (non-weather) and extreme cold or heat (non-weather). The noise level is usually moderate, but could increase to high. The employee must lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel; talk/hear and taste. Employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel or crouch.
