Major Gifts Manager

JOB TITLE: Major Gift Officer
STATUS: Full Time, Exempt
REPORTS TO: Sr. Director Individual Giving
DIRECT REPORTS: None
 

SUMMARY:  This position is responsible for the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of individuals to generate major and planned gifts to support the mission and programs of Mid-Ohio Foodbank.

PRIMARY DUTIES:

• Identify, cultivate solicit and/or steward high net worth individuals.
• Manage an extensive major and planned gift donor and prospect portfolio.
• Engage and involve major gift donors and prospects through consistent communication and volunteer opportunities.
• Responsible for prospect identification, including research, prospect management and proper communication with donors.
• Track identification, cultivation and solicitation activities, using specified metrics, and provide frequent reports on outcomes.
• Write complex proposals for solicitation of individual prospects.
• Support all Foodbank fundraising efforts as directed.
• Attend functions, meetings, conferences, as well as serve on committees as a representative of the organization.  
• Establish and maintain strong relationships with MOF team members and stakeholders.
• Recruit, train, and support key volunteers who assist in fundraising efforts.
• May direct other team members involved in the implementation of multi-component fundraising programs.
• Works in collaboration with other MOF team members and contributes additional work as necessary.
   

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Education and Certifications: Bachelor's Degree in related field or equivalent experience and training is required. Certified Fund Raising Executive designation preferred.

Experience:  At least six years of philanthropic and fundraising experience and three years of major gifts solicitation with an emphasis on and successful track record of gifts in excess of $10,000. Experience in donor cultivation and major gift solicitation is required. Experience building knowledge of a complex organization including its vision, mission, goals, objectives, achievements and infrastructure.

Skills/Competencies:  Ability to work independently and in a team environment.  Advanced written, oral and interpersonal communication skills, including political acumen to establish and maintain good working relationships throughout the organization and with outside stakeholders.  Advanced skill in making persuasive and compelling presentations of organizational goals/objectives and securing gifts.  Ability to manage multiple tasks.  Willingness to adjust to changing priorities.  Ability to represent Mid-Ohio Foodbank with professionalism.

JOB CONDITIONS:

Working Conditions:  Normal office environment. Significant travel will be required.
