JOB TITLE: Mid-Ohio Farm Education Coordinator

REPORTS TO: Sr. Project Manager

STATUS: Full-Time, Non-Exempt, 40 Hours M-F, Weekends are possible (shifts will vary)

DIRECT REPORTS: None

SUMMARY:

The Mid-Ohio Farm Education Coordinator will execute the development and implementation of the vision to make the farm an education hub to include curriculum for schools of all levels, field trips and virtual classes. Educational opportunities will also be available to community members of all ages and will make Mid-Ohio Farm on the Hilltop the EduFarm of the Future. In partnership with the Senior Farm Manager and the Senior Project Manager, the Education Coordinator will establish a project plan and determine key stakeholders such as school districts, colleges and community partners. Building upon current relationships will be key to the long-term success of the position to build-out desired curriculum and continue to expand year-over-year. Event planning for field trips and other educational experiences are essential to build the future programming of the farm.


PRIMARY DUTIES:

  • Establishing customized curriculum as well as standard curriculum to be repeated throughout the year
  • Programmatic execution of detailed tasks
  • Prepare and execute a project plan for immediate and long-term success
  • Coordination with school districts, colleges and community partners
  • Building long-term relationships with schools and other community organizations
  • Identify and facilitate new relationships to expand programmatic potential
  • Organization of field trips/events and to lead sessions, as needed
  • Engaging students and instructors of all levels
  • Other duties as assigned


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Education and Certifications: High School Diploma/GED required, college degree in Education or Business preferred. Candidate must have a valid Driver's License. Knowledge on vegetable and horticultural concepts preferred.


Experience: Experience in coordinating events, working with students and program/project management is required. Educational experience including creating lesson plans and curriculum is highly preferred. Sales and/or customer service background is preferred but not required. Gardening or farm experience is preferred to be able to speak from first-hand knowledge, teaching, however, training will be provided. Proficiency in Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.



Skills/Competencies: Committed to the organizational mission of ending hunger. Knowledge and expertise in educational programming for various age and competency levels. Strong project management and organizational skills are essential. Ability to work effectively and efficiently both independently and in a team environment. Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills are required. Strong interpersonal skills and excellent written and verbal communication skills are required. Must be able to work cross-functionally, cross-culturally and build relationships that collaborate effectively with volunteers, partner agencies, community leaders, stakeholders. An eagerness to test innovations and build upon successes and failures will be necessary.



JOB CONDITIONS:

Working Conditions: This position will be a blend of an urban farm setting and in an office. Events will require a person to work outside in all weather conditions performing manual labor. Frequent standing, walking, bending, crouching, and lifting may be required.
