JOB TITLE: Pantry Operations Specialist Team Lead        STATUS: Full-time, Non-exempt,

                                                                                                             Tuesday-Saturday           

DIRECT REPORTS: None                                                   REPORTS TO: Pantry Manager

 

POSITION SUMMARY: 

Under the general supervision of the Pantry Manager, this position will be responsible for supporting day- to-day operations of the Kroger Community Food Pantry at Mid-Ohio Food Collective. The Pantry Lead will provide oversight, assist, guide and train volunteers, temporary employees and Pantry Specialists.

PRIMARY DUTIES:

  • Preps and stages produce pallets for pantry floor and Pantry Express.
  • Organizes product movement of food pantry inventory, including working with Pantry Manager to order and maintain inventory
  • Maintains cleanliness and compliance paperwork on all freezers and coolers.
  • Assures all produce is pulled, organized and quality checked before bringing to pantry floor. 
  • Uses forklift to retrieve pallets from freezer storage area. 
  • Assists and directs volunteers and Specialist staff as needed. 
  • Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following safety practices and policies.
  • Coordinates with Pantry Manager to ensure all tasks are covered by staff, temps and volunteers.
  • Provides continuity program leadership when the Pantry Manager is not on-site.
  • Participates in special projects as requested.
  • Utilizes Volunteer Hub to project pantry volunteer needs
  • Responds to pantry e-mail inquires

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: High School Diploma/GED

Licenses/Designations: Food Safety Certification (provided by Mid-Ohio Food Collective). Forklift Operator Certification (provided by Mid-Ohio Food Collective).

Experience: One year of warehouse experience including use of a forklift (propane and electric) and electric pallet jack (4ft and 8ft is required). Working knowledge of general warehouse machinery and operations. 

Knowledge: Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, and Outlook is required.

Skills/Competencies: Must have good customer service and communication skills. Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Ability to work effectively and efficiently both independently and in a team environment. 

JOB CONDITIONS:

Working Conditions:  This job requires working evening and weekend hours. Must be able to: perform moderate to heavy physical labor (must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.).  Daily walking, bending, reaching, pushing and pulling. Must work in various climate temperatures (coolers, warehouse, etc.).
