Pantry Operations Specialist

SUMMARY:

Under the general supervision of the Pantry Manager this position is responsible for the supporting day- to-day operations functions of the Kroger Community Food Pantry at Mid-Ohio Foodbank.

Hours: Will work Tuesdays, Wednesdays (evenings), Fridays and Saturdays

PRIMARY DUTIES:

• Preps and stages produce pallets for pantry floor and Pantry Express
• Organizes and manages product movement of food pantry inventory
• Maintains produce cooler. Assures all produce is gleaned and organized before bringing to pantry floor
• Maintains cleanliness, order, and safety in the pantry and back stock area
• Maintain safe, secure, clean and healthy work environment by following safety practices and policies
• Uses forklift to retrieve pallets from freezer
• Assist and directs volunteers as needed
• Participates in special projects and other duties as requested

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: High School Diploma/GED.

Licenses/Designations: Food Safety Certification (provided by Mid-Ohio Foodbank). Forklift Operator Certification (provided by Mid-Ohio Foodbank).

Experience: Minimum of one year of warehouse experience including use of a forklift (propane and electric) and electric pallet jack (4ft and 8 ft is required). Working knowledge of general warehouse machinery and operations.

Skills/Competencies: Must have good customer service and communication skills. Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office product. Ability to work effectively and efficiently both independently and in a team environment.

JOB CONDITIONS:

Working Conditions: This job requires working some evening and weekend hours. Must be able to: perform moderate to heavy physical labor (must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.). Daily walking, bending, reaching, pushing and pulling. Must work in various climate temperatures (coolers, warehouse, etc.) and outdoors as needed for gardening objectives. Applicants must have received or be willing to receive the COVID-19 vaccine by date of hire to be considered for employment.

Schedule: This position works a flexible schedule that may include some evenings. Must able be able to work Saturday mornings and early afternoon.
