Payroll and Benefits Coordinator
JOB TITLE: Payroll & Benefits Coordinator STATUS: Full-Time, Exempt
REPORTS TO: Director, Human Resources DIRECT REPORTS: None
SUMMARY: Primary responsibility for payroll system & processing for Mid-Ohio Food Collective. This position will coordinate and maintain benefit enrollments and records on payroll/HR workflow, payroll and benefit-related data entry, new hire set-up, and one-on-one payroll and benefits support to team members.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
- Process bi-weekly payroll and employee record changes.
- Review payroll and timekeeping for compliance with federal, state and local laws.
- Prepare accurate calculation of all statutory, benefits and other deductions and remittances including but not limited to 401(k), garnishments, etc.
- Reconcile benefit expenses with payroll records.
- Act as point of contact for team members, benefit broker, carriers, and providers.
- Communicate and coordinate benefit changes including addition and termination of benefits for employee selections as needed.
- Setup new employees including but not limited to onboarding preparation, I-9 verification, position setup, and benefit enrollment.
- Participate in new employee orientation.
- Train users on payroll and benefits software.
- Coordinate with Accounting and Finance to ensure payroll activity is properly recorded to general ledger.
- Organize HR and payroll records for annual external audit and provide information as requested by auditors.
- Prepare and maintain written procedures for payroll and benefits processes.
- Works in collaboration with other MOF team members and contribute additional work as necessary.
- Participate in special projects as requested.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Education and Certifications: High School diploma or GED required, Associate's Degree in Finance or Accounting preferred. Certified Payroll Professional designation preferred.
Experience: Minimum of five years of increasing responsibilities within payroll processing experience required, experience with Paylocity preferred. Prior experience in garnishments and related laws preferred. General ledger and accounts payable experience preferred. Experience with benefits renewal, enrollment and customer service. Strong knowledge of benefit plans.
Skills/Competencies: Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines. Ability to work effectively and efficiently both independently and in a team environment. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Excellent customer service skills. Excellent demonstrated computer proficiency in Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel and Outlook. Strong verbal, non-verbal written, analytical and persuasive skills. Ability to work effectively and efficiently both independently and in a team environment.

Working Conditions: Normal office environment.
