SUMMARY:

Manages purchases made through various programs and creates recommendations that include quantity and timing of product purchases based on "on-demand" forecasts and historical data. Partners with the Director of Food Resource Development on the implementation of inventory strategies for the advancement of Mid-Ohio Foodbank product distribution.

PRIMARY DUTIES:

  • Purchase for all Food & Non-Food Grocery Programs, and all other Organization-wide purchases
  • Manage quantity and timing of product purchases given current demand forecasts and inventory strategies based on historical movement, acquisition lead times, and inventory best practices
  • Update Incoming Products Calendar for cross-departmental use
  • Participate in the design and implementation of an enterprise-wide purchase order policy/ process to establish consistent internal controls to facilitate all purchasing and administration of grant requirements
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with various vendors, farmers, manufacturers, and federal/state program liaisons to include sending out bid requests and comparing pricing to ensure the best use of our funds
  • Maintain all acquisition and purchasing program budgets
  • Work with Finance on budget tracking and payment of invoices
  • Identify opportunities within organization to increase purchased inventory movement, e.g., partner with Inventory Manager to identify products that are not meeting desired movement and resolve purchased inventory movement issues by analyzing trends and tracking reports to develop best practices
  • Collaborate with internal partners to gather the data and information required for grant applications, reports, and compliance
  • Compile and tracks program data and statistics for grant activity reporting system and related files
  • Coordinate grant related administrative activities including updating and maintaining grants calendar and associated grant files
  • Participate in special projects at the request of the Director of Food Resource Development
  • Perform other duties as assigned

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Education and Certifications: High School Diploma/GED required. Food Safety Certification (provided by Mid-Ohio Foodbank).

Experience: Minimum of three years of experience in purchasing or inventory environment. Working knowledge of best purchasing practices.

Skills/Competencies: Excellent math skills. Detail oriented. Ability to manage and interpret large amounts of data and summarize into presentable information. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Outstanding research, planning, organizing, conceptual and strategic/critical thinking skills. Must be able to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and be flexible to changing priorities. Ability to work efficiently both independently and in a team environment. Advanced Microsoft Office/Excel experience required.

JOB CONDITIONS:

Working Conditions: Normal office environment. Occasional travel may be required. Applicants must have received or be willing to receive the COVID-19 vaccine by date of hire to be considered for employment.
