School Lunch Specialist
JOB TITLE: School Lunch Specialist
STATUS: Part Time, Non-Exempt
REPORTS TO: Kid’s Café Manager
DIRECT REPORTS: None
SUMMARY: The school lunch specialist will be responsible for overseeing the delivery and service of lunches to students at a contracted lunch site in accordance with National School Lunch Program guidelines and standards.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
- Prepares serving area at lunch site, including heating or cooling prep and serving areas.
- Ensure compliance with school lunch program, including but not limited to temperature monitoring, portion sizes, and record keeping.
- Serves meals for site, which may include breakfast and lunch.
- Cleans and sanitizes work area at the end of the shift.
- Return dishes, hot boxes, milk cartons, etc. to MOF kitchen.
- May assist kitchen staff in preparing food items for the program.
- Pick-up and deliver meals from MOF to the lunch site, including loading and unloading.
- Participate in other projects/tasks as requested.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Education and Certifications: High school diploma or GED or equivalent experience
Experience: 1-2 years kitchen or serving experience in a high volume, complex school lunch operation and high-touch customer service environment experience highly desirable. Non-profit experience is a plus.
Skills/Competencies: Must have good customer skills, mathematical skills, strong communication and organizational skills. Ability to use computerized food ordering and planning system and experience with Microsoft applications. Ability to work effectively and efficiently both independently and in a team environment.
JOB CONDITIONS:
Working Conditions: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet or humid (non-weather) and extreme cold or heat (non-weather). The noise level is usually moderate, but could increase to high. The employee must lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel; talk/hear and taste. Employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel or crouch.
