Senior Accountant

Reports to: Chief Financial Officer

Status: Full-time, Exempt

SUMMARY:
The Senior Accountant will provide the daily accounting support for major financial accounting areas, including accounts payable, general ledger accounting, and account reconciliation for Mid-Ohio Foodbank.

PRIMARY DUTIES:
• Posts vouchers for invoices received and prepare payments in a timely manner
• Process daily lockbox donations
• Reconcile bank accounts
• Maintain fixed assets and depreciation for the organization
• Monthly closing procedures that ensure activity is properly recorded to general ledger in the proper period for the correct amount
• Monitors agency account status and performs collections functions for past due accounts.
• Preparing monthly financial statements
• Assist with preparing monthly reports to funders (ODJFS, Franklin County, OFA)
• Assist with calculating programmatic costs and reporting use of grant funds.
• Monitoring cash flow – sources and uses.
• Preparing and maintaining written procedures for departmental activities.
• Participates in special projects 
• Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Education and Certifications: Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting Required. CPA preferred.

Experience:  3-5 years of recent experience of general ledger, month-end close procedures and accounts payable activities. Knowledge of accounting rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. Working knowledge of various integrated inventory management, payroll, and budgeting software. Working knowledge of GAAP.  upervisory experience preferred. Experience with collection of past due accounts preferred.

Skills/Competencies:  Demonstrated advanced computer proficiency in Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, and Outlook. Impeccable attention to detail with highly-developed organizational and multi-tasking skills. Strong planning and organizing skills. Strong communication skills, judgment, and problem-solving skills and ability to follow directions. Ability to work effectively and efficiently both independently and in a team environment.
