JOB TITLE: SR. ACCOUNTANT

STATUS: FULL-TIME

REPORTS TO: CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER DIRECT REPORTS: NONE

SUMMARY: The Senior Accountant is primarily responsible for the Accounting and reporting of Grants. Additional tasks include assigned daily accounting responsibilities, period close and financial reporting. The Accountant should be an organized professional with an eye for detail, reliable, self-motivated and work collaboratively with others.

PRIMARY DUTIES:

• Help develop, update and maintain the processes for the timely and accurate Accounting and related reporting and compliance of Grants.
• Responsible for efficient Grant invoicing, collections and issue resolutions.
• Consistently track current financial Grant requirements and keep relevant stakeholders updated.
• Partner across the organization and external agencies to ensure Grant funding compliance.
• Responsible for the timely and accurate Accounting of assigned transactions, accounts, programs and cost centers.
• Responsible for assigned account reconciliations.
• Assist with schedules and substantiation for audits as needed.
• Provide back-up and task-sharing across Accounting team as requested.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Education and Certifications: Diploma or Degree in Finance or Accounting required.

Experience: 3-5 years recent experience of general ledger, period-end close procedures and Grant accounting and financial reporting and compliance. Knowledge of Grant compliance, accounting rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. Working knowledge of various integrated inventory management, payroll, and budgeting software. Working knowledge of GAAP.

Skills/Competencies: Demonstrated advanced computer proficiency in Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, and Outlook. Impeccable attention to detail with highly-developed organizational and multi-tasking skills. Strong planning and organizing skills. Strong communication skills, judgment, and problem-solving skills and ability to follow directions. Ability to work effectively and efficiently both independently and in a team environment.
