Senior Director of Individual Giving

JOB TITLE: Sr. Director, Individual Giving
STATUS: Full Time, Exempt
REPORTS TO: Vice President, Development
DIRECT REPORTS: Major Gift Officer (3), Annual Giving Manager
 

SUMMARY:  This position is responsible for overseeing the individual giving programs to include annual giving and major giving.  Will be highly involved in the creation of the individual giving strategy, as well as the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of individuals to generate gifts across all facets of individual giving to support the mission and programs of Mid-Ohio Foodbank.

PRIMARY DUTIES:

• Implement and measure the comprehensive strategic fundraising plan to build, expand and maintain a robust pipeline of potential individual donors toward increasing annual and major giving.
• Create and lead the implementation of short- and long-term strategies to identify and secure new individual donors, fully leverage existing relationships, increase multi-year commitments, and maintain or elevate current commitments.
• In partnership with the VP of Development, set metrics for major gift officers and the annual giving program, and track progress on a routine basis.
• Leads strategy meetings with gift officers, annual giving and related staff to determine portfolios, oversee development of proposals and appeal letters.
• Develop processes to identify, oversee and manage the transition of donor's through the pipeline from annual to major gifts.
• Manage leadership level and planned gift donor prospect portfolio with a focus on developing 6-figure gift prospects.
• Implements prospect identification procedures, including research, prospect management and proper communication with leadership level donors.
• Establishes and maintains strong relationships with MOF team members and stakeholders.
• Direct team members in areas including but not limited to performance management, salary planning and administration, training and development, workflow and organizational planning, hiring and placement, and disciplinary actions.

• Works in collaboration with other MOF team members and contributes additional work as necessary.
   

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Education and Certifications: Bachelor's Degree in related field is required. CFRE preferred.

Experience:  At least ten years of development experience with a minimum 6 years of demonstrated success in major gifts solicitation. Experience managing fundraising teams is required.  Demonstrated success in the full spectrum of development including gift policies, cultivation strategies, solicitations and administration. An understanding of donor cultivation and major gift solicitation is required. Candidates should possess excellent oral, written and presentation skills, be computer literate and demonstrate strong leadership and interpersonal skills.  Experience building knowledge of a complex organization including its vision, mission, goals, objectives, achievements and infrastructure.

Skills/Competencies:  Ability to work independently and in a team environment.  Advanced written, oral and interpersonal communication skills, including political acumen to establish and maintain good working relationships throughout the organization and with outside stakeholders.  Advanced skill in making persuasive and compelling presentations of organizational goals/objectives and securing gifts.  Ability to manage multiple tasks.  Willingness to adjust to changing priorities.  Ability to represent Mid-Ohio Foodbank with professionalism.

Working Conditions:  Normal office environment. Occasional travel may be required.
