SUMMARY: Supports Volunteerism efforts across the organization by providing assistance and training for MOF staff working with volunteers. Manages customer service for current and potential MOF volunteers through multiple communication streams. Manages the sourcing, on-boarding, volunteer experience, and recognition of volunteers for across MOF and for community events. Manages the assessment of volunteer needs and facilitates the incorporation of MOF staff in the engagement of volunteers.

PRIMARY DUTIES: Volunteer Services

  • Partners with MOF management staff to develop job descriptions for volunteer opportunities. Manages the development of innovative opportunities for volunteer involvement and retention strategies
  • Communicates with current and potential volunteers through email, phone, and face-to-face visits. Provides assistance with registration, scheduling and on-line accounts.
  • Facilitates VHub training and retraining sessions for staff and partners.
  • Implements and tracks organization-wide volunteer recruitment, placement, screening, onboarding and retention strategies.
  • Executes annual volunteer recognition and appreciation activities.
  • Manages VS partner programs including (but not limited to) Volunteer Co-Op and Give Back, Go Forward
  • Oversees the on-boarding of Skills Based Volunteers.
  • Prepare a variety of reports on volunteer attendance, recruitment, retention.
  • Addresses volunteer groups on the topic of hunger and provides volunteer tours.
  • Maintains the MOF VHub site by posting shifts, updating messaging, and managing data transfer.
  • Participates in volunteer orientations and conducts tours of the facility.
  • Participates in volunteer recruitment events as needed.
  • Participates in special projects at the request of the Director of Volunteer Services.


Education and Certifications: Associates Degree or equivalent experience required.

Experience: One year of receptionist experience to include use of a multi-line phone system. Experience in interacting with the public. Non-profit experience preferred. Must be proficient with Microsoft Office products.

Skills/Competencies: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to interpret large amounts of data, and summarize into presentable information. Excellent time management and prioritization skills. Ability to work effectively and efficiently both independently and in a team environment. Collaborating with cross-functional teams. Ability to work effectively with a wide range of internal and external clients and volunteers.


Working Conditions: Normal office environment. Some travel may be required. May occasionally spend time supporting volunteers in other departments with varying working conditions.
