Warehouse Specialist (Freezer) for Mid-Ohio Foodbank

POSITION:  Warehouse Specialist/Freezer
REPORTS TO:  Perishable Foods Manager                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  STATUS: Full-time, Non-Exempt                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                           DIRECT REPORTS:  None

SUMMARY: 

Responsible for performing a variety of manual tasks associated with the receiving, loading, storage, staging, distribution and proper handling of perishable food produst. 

PRIMARY DUTIES:

• Performs a variety of general duties including picking/packing, loading/unloading, and proper storage and distribution of perishable food products (frozen, refrigerated, and fresh foods) to our partner agencies.
• Loads orders onto both Mid-Ohio Foodbank (MOF) and contract carrier trucks for delivery to partner agencies. 
• Responsible for completion of paperwork, shrink wrapping, and labeling pallets for delivery.
• Receive perishable food products including quality inspections, unloading trucks, receiving paperwork, labeling, product cycling and storage.
• Proper handling and storage of all donated retail perishable products.
• Restock perishable food into inventory when orders are cancelled. 
• Ensure that first expired first out (FEFO) methodology is used in accordance with quality standards.
• Maintains cleanliness and sanitation of food distrubiton and warehouse areas.
• Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following safety practices and policies. 
• Partners with the Freezer Inventory Specialist with inventory functions (replenishment, cycle counts, receiving frozen and refrigerated products).
• Participates in special projects and performs other duties at the request of the Perishable Foods Manager. 
• Performs other duties as assigned.
   

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Education and Certification: High School Diploma or GED required. Food Safety Certification (provided by Mid-Ohio Foodbank).

Experience: Minimum of one year of warehouse experience including use of forklift (propane and electric), electric hand jack (4ft and 8ft) is required. Previous experience using a cherry picker is strongly preferred. Working knowledge of general warehouse machinery and operations. Knowledge of quality control practices and procedures. 

Skills/Competencies: Must have good customer service skills and mathematical skills. Ability to work effectively and efficiently both independently and in a team environment.

JOB CONDITIONS:

Working Conditions:  Warehouse environment. Safety sensitive position due to regular interaction with heavy machinery. Must be able to: perform moderate to heavy physical labor (lift  30 lbs. frequently and 50 lbs. occasionally).  Daily walking, bending, reaching, pushing and pulling (300 lbs. with use of manual pallet jack.)  Frequent standing, walking, lifting, carrying, and reaching.  Must work in sub-freezing temperatures for extended periods of time.   Some night and weekend work required.
